Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 "Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents".
This document replaces GB/T 3487-2015 "Rims for passenger car". Compared with GB/T 3487-2015, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes in this document are as follows:
side (see Figure 1, Figure 2 of this Edition; Figure 1, Figure 2 of Edition 2015);
- Modified the provisions of the "Snap-on valve hole" section (see 5.4.2 of this
- Added relevant provisions for "Compression-type valve hole" (see 5.4.3 of this Edition).
The modification of this document adopted ISO 4000-2:2021 "Passenger car tyres and rims -- Part 2: Rims".
Compared with ISO 4000-2:2021, this document has more structural adjustments. See Annex A for a comparison of the structural number changes between the two documents.
The technical differences between this document and ISO 4000-2:2021 and their reasons are as follows:
- ISO 3911 (see Chapter 3 of this document) was replaced by the normative reference GB/T 2933 to adapt to China's technical conditions;
4000-2:2021) has been deleted, and the relevant content has been deleted;
- Added "Rim profile size code" and its illustration (see Chapter 4 of this document) for ease of use;
- Deleted rim specifications and marking (see Chapter 4 of ISO 4000-2:2021) as their contents are already specified in the referenced standards;
(see the footnote of Figure 4 of this document; the footnote of Figure 3 in ISO 4000-2:2021). Figure 4 has been deleted because this provision in ISO 4000- 2:2021 is incorrect;
Figure 5 of this document; Figure 5 of ISO 4000-2:2021). Dimension d (see Table
5 of ISO 4000-2:2021) has been deleted and is now marked directly in Figure 5.
The following editorial changes were made to this document:
- To coordinate with the existing standards, the name of the standard is changed to "Passenger car rims";
- A note was added to Figure 5: "Due to the different manufacturing processes for machining and punching, the figures shown are general rules."
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing authority shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
This document shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Tires and rims of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 19).

Versions of standard substituted by this document are:
- It was first published in 1983 as GB 3487-1983 "Rim contours for motor vehicles".
It was first revised in 1989. It was second revised in 1996. It was third revised in 2005.
- This is the fifth revision.
1 Scope
This document specifies the specifications, profiles and dimensions of 5° deep groove rims for passenger car wheels and tyre mating areas.
This document applies to rims for passenger car wheels.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
3 Terms and definitions
4 Rim profile size codes
The rim profile size codes are shown in Figure 1.
C - Flange radius position dimension;
DF - Bead seat flat peak diameter;
R2 - Flange radius; R3 - Bead seat arc radius;
R4 - Groove top arc radius; R5 - Groove bottom arc radius;
R6 - Flange edge fillet radius;
R7 - Groove side arc radius; V - Valve hole or valve groove dimension;
NOTE 1: The dimensions marked with * are related to the installation and removal of the tire on the rim and are the minimum outline dimensions and position dimensions of the rim groove.
NOTE 2: The mounting side is the side from which the tire is installed on the rim or removed from it. For multi-piece rims, the mounting side is the side with the removable flange and bead seat.
5 5° deep groove rim (5°DC)
5.1 Rim flange
The wheel rim models are divided into types B and J. The configuration of the wheel Mounting side Rim nominal diameter code Rim model mm rim nominal diameter code is shown in Table 1.
5.3 Rim nominal diameter and peak circumference
The nominal diameter D and the peak circumference corresponding to the rim nominal diameter code are given in Table 4.
The round peak is set on the non-tire mounting side, with an allowable tolerance of mm.
The tolerances here are only used for tire design. Use a ball tape measure calibrated by a mandrel to measure the circumference of the rim nominal diameter. The relationship between the mandrel diameter and the rim nominal diameter can be obtained by geometric conversion.
5.4 Valve hole
5.4.1 General
The valve stem hole on the side where the rim contacts the tire shall be rounded or chamfered. The hole on the other side shall be free of burrs to avoid damaging the valve stem.
5.4.3 Compression-type valve hole
When the rim groove bottom depth is not less than 17.3 mm, the design of the clamping valve hole shall be as shown in Figure 5. […]
