Scope

GB/T 34533-2023 is the English-translated version of 页岩孔隙度、渗透率和饱和度测定.

GB/T 34533-2023 gives the laboratory methods for measuring porosity, permeability and water saturation on shale rock samples.

Porosity is determined by the helium method or the liquid saturation method over the range 1.0 % to 10.0 %; permeability by the steady state, pulse decay or pressure drop method, between 1.0 x 10^-5 mD and 1.0 x 10^4 mD depending on the method; water saturation by the liquid saturation, nuclear magnetic resonance or distillation extraction method, from 1.0 % to 100.0 %.

It also covers the preparation of the rock samples, the washing of oil from them, drying and dimension measurement, the instrument specifications and materials, the rounding of values and the report and original record.

It cites GB/T 23561.3 and GB/T 29172-2012. It replaces GB/T 34533-2017, was issued on 23 May 2023 and has applied since 1 September 2023.
