1 Scope

This Standard provides guidelines for consumer product manufacturers on the purpose and principles of product recalls, general requirements, necessity assessment, implementation, and plans for continuous improvement.

This Standard is intended to apply to manufacturers of consumer products. It might also be applicable to other sectors.

2 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

2.1 consumer

individual member of the general public purchasing or using property, products or services for private purposes

2.2 consumer product

products that consumers purchase or use for their daily consumption needs

Note. product designed and produced primarily for, but not limited to, personal use, including its components, parts, accessories, instructions and packaging

2.3 manufacturer

legal persons or other organizations established in accordance with the law in China that produce consumer goods in their own name, as well as enterprises that import consumer goods from outside China and sell them in China, or institutions authorized by overseas enterprises in China
