Scope
GB/T 33796-2025 is the English-translated version of 热塑性淀粉通用技术要求.
GB/T 33796-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering starch made processable on plastics machinery — the appearance of the pellets and the limit on black and coloured particles, the physical requirements of density, melt flow rate and moisture that decide whether it runs on an extruder, the biodegradability and the labelling that may only be claimed once it is met, the inspection rules, and the packaging, transport and storage period. It replaces GB/T 33796-2017, revising the appearance and biodegradability requirements and adding a clause on biodegradability labelling. In force from 1 October 2025. Issued on 28 March 2025, it has been in force since 1 October 2025, replacing GB/T 33796-2017.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 33796-2017 "General technical requirements for thermoplastic starch". Compared with GB/T 33796-2017, except for the structure In addition to adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) The technical requirements for “Appearance” have been changed (see 4.1, 4.1 and Table 1 of the 2017 edition);
b) The requirements and test methods for “biodegradability” have been changed (see 4.3 and 5.7, 4.3 and 5.7 of the 2017 edition);
c) The test method for "starch content" has been deleted (see 5.8 of the 2017 edition);
d) Added requirements for “biodegradability labeling” (see Chapter 7);
e) The requirements for “storage period” have been changed (see 8.3, 8.3 of the 2017 edition).
