Scope
GB/T 3367.1-2018 is the English-translated version of 内燃机车词汇 第1部分:基本词汇.
Part 1 of China's national vocabulary for diesel locomotives, covering the general terms. It defines the classification of diesel locomotives, their structural elements, their motion processes, traction and braking, power performance and locomotive testing, and it closes with an index. GB/T 3367 is issued in five parts - basic vocabulary, diesel engine, car body, bogie and brake equipment, hydraulic transmission system, and auxiliary equipment - and this is the first of them. It replaces GB/T 3367.6-2000, and the renumbering is itself worth noting: the series has been reorganised so that the general vocabulary comes first, which it did not before. The technical changes are small and telling. A traction thermal test and a works line running test are added; the definition of an AC drive diesel locomotive is revised; the definition of the axle arrangement is revised; and the terms and definitions for the original routine test are revised. The AC drive revision is the substantive one, and it reflects what happened to the traction market: a diesel locomotive is a power station on wheels, and how the engine's output reaches the rails - through a DC generator to DC motors, through an alternator and rectifier to DC motors, or through an alternator and inverters to AC motors - is the distinction that matters most about any locomotive. AC drive became the dominant form during the life of the previous edition. Issued on 7 June 2018 and in force since 1 January 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 3367 "Dictionary of Diesel Locomotive" is divided into five parts.
--- Part 1. Basic vocabulary;
--- Part 2. Diesel engine;
--- Part 3. car body, bogie and brake device;
--- Part 4. Hydraulic drive system;
--- Part 5. Auxiliary devices.
This part is the first part of GB/T 3367.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 3367.6-2000 "The terminology of diesel locomotives".
The main technical changes in this section compared with GB/T 3367.6-2000 are as follows.
--- Increased traction thermal test (see 2.6.5);
--- Added factory line operation test (see 2.6.16);
--- Revised the definition of AC drive diesel locomotive (see 2.1.14, 2.14 of the.2000 edition);
--- Modified the definition of the axis column (see 2.2.1, 3.1 of the.2000 version);
--- Revised the terms and definitions of the original routine test (see 2.6.14, 7.14 of the.2000 edition).
This part is proposed and managed by the National Railway Administration.
