Scope
GB/T 32783-2016 is the English-translated version of 蓝莓酒.
China's national standard for blueberry wine. It specifies the terms and definitions, the product classification, the requirements, the analytical methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of blueberry wine and blueberry fortified wine, and it applies to both. The standard exists because blueberry wine was being made and sold in China without any specification that fitted it. Fruit wine as a category was covered only by the general provisions of GB/T 15038, written for grape wine, and a blueberry product could be tested against those methods without anything establishing what it was supposed to contain. That gap matters commercially more than technically: blueberries are expensive, the fruit is grown in Heilongjiang and the northeast on land that grows little else profitably, and a bottle labelled blueberry wine could be anything from fully fermented blueberry juice to a grape or grain base with blueberry flavouring. Defining the product is therefore defining the difference between a fruit wine industry and a flavouring industry. The standard sets out what may be called blueberry wine, distinguishes the fermented product from the fortified one, and fixes the requirements - sensory, physico-chemical and hygienic - against which a lot is judged. Alcohol content, total acid, sugar and net content are all inspected, and the analytical methods are those of GB/T 15038 for wine and fruit wine together with GB/T 601 for the titration solutions they need. Food safety follows GB 2758 for fermented alcoholic drinks and labelling follows GB 7718 for prepackaged food. Issued on 14 June 2016 and in force since 1 October 2016.
