GB/T 32755-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the large yellow croaker as a farmed product - a fish that was commercially extinct in the wild and is now one of China's largest marine aquaculture species, graded on size, condition, colour and freshness. It replaces GB/T 32755-2016 and has been in force since 1 September 2026. It was issued on 27 February 2026 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, replacing GB/T 32755-2016. The document is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 32755-2016 "Large Yellow Croaker". Compared with GB/T 32755-2016, the main differences are structural adjustments and editorial changes. In addition, the main technological changes are as follows:

a) The scientific name and classification have been changed (see Chapter 4, Chapter 3 of the.2016 edition);

b) Some descriptions of the external form have been changed (see 5.1,

4.1 in the.2016 edition);

c) The description of body color in the external morphological characteristics section has been deleted (see

4.1.1 in the.2016 version);

d) Added descriptions of the fin types of the pectoral, pelvic, and caudal fins in the external morphological characteristics section (see 5.1.2.1);

e) Some descriptions of the internal structure have been changed (see 5.2,

4.2 in the.2016 edition);

f) Some descriptions of growth and reproduction characteristics have been revised (see Chapter 6, Chapter 5 in the.2016 edition);

g) The measured body length and weight values for different age groups have been removed (see section

5.1 of the.2016 edition);

h) A description of the properties of the egg has been added (see 6.2.4);

1 Scope

GB/T 32755-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the large yellow croaker as a farmed product - a fish that was commercially extinct in the wild and is now one of China's largest marine aquaculture species, graded on size, condition, colour and freshness. It replaces GB/T 32755-2016 and has been in force since 1 September 2026. It was issued on 27 February 2026 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, replacing GB/T 32755-2016. This document defines the scientific name and classification of the large yellow croaker [Larimichthyscrocea (Richardson, 1846)], and specifies its main morphology. The structural characteristics, growth and reproduction characteristics, cytogenetic and molecular genetic characteristics, and judgment rules are described, along with the corresponding detection methods. This document applies to the germplasm testing and identification of large yellow croaker.

4.1 Scientific name

4.2 Classification Status Phylum Chordata, Class Osteichthyes, Order Perciformes, Family Sciaenidae, Yellowtail The genus *Larimichthys*.

5.1 External Form

5.1.1 Appearance The body is elongated and laterally compressed, with broadly arched dorsal and ventral margins, and a slender caudal peduncle. The head is large, with well-developed mucous cavities. The mouth is large, terminal, and obliquely cleft, with the lower jaw slightly protruding. Teeth are small and sharp, multiple rows in the upper jaw and two rows in the lower jaw. Gill rakers are slender. The head and anterior body are covered with cycloid scales, while the posterior body is covered with ctenoid scales, which are larger. The lateral line is intact. The fin is full, slightly curved at the front and straight at the rear. The dorsal fin is continuous, with a deep indentation between the spines and rays. The pectoral fins are long and pointed, longer than the pelvic fins; the pelvic fins are relatively small; the caudal fin is pointed. It is long and slightly wedge-shaped. The external morphology of the large yellow croaker is shown in Figure 1.

5.1.2.1 Fin-type

5.1.3 Measurable characteristics The ratios of measurable traits are shown in Table 1.

5.2 Internal Structure

5.2.1 Swim Bladder The swim bladder is large, round at the front and tapering at the back; it has multiple pairs of branching lateral branches on its sides, and each lateral branch has two smaller branches anterior and posterior to the lower branch of its ventral branch. Equal length.

5.2.2 Number of vertebrae 25 to 28 pieces.

5.2.3 Number of pyloric vertebrae 13 to 20.

6 Growth and Reproduction Characteristics

6.1 Growth The relationship between body length and weight of large yellow croaker (12.9cm~43.8cm) is shown in equation (1).

6.2 Reproduction

6.2.1 Age of sexual maturity In natural marine environments, males are 2 years old and females are 3 years old.

6.2.2 Breeding season They lay eggs twice a year, once between March and June, and once between September and December.

6.2.3 Number of fertile eggs The absolute fertility rate is 4.0 × 10^4 eggs to 1.6 × 10^6 eggs.

6.2.4 Properties of the egg Transparent, spherical, buoyant, and terminally yolked. Egg diameter 1.2mm~1.5mm. Yolk granules are homogeneous and fused together, with one oil globule located... The center of the egg.

7.Cytogenetic characteristics Somatic cell chromosome number 2n=48.

8.Molecular genetic characteristics The reference sequence of the mitochondrial COI gene fragment is as follows (640 bp). Intraspecific K2P (Kimura2-parameter, K2P) genetic distance is less than 2%.

9 Detection Methods

9.1 Main Morphological and Structural Features Test according to the method given in GB/T 18654.3.

9.2 Growth and Reproduction Characteristics

9.2.1 Growth Test according to the method given in GB/T 18654.4.

9.2.2 Reproduction

9.2.2.1 Age Age was determined by scale analysis according to the method given in GB/T 18654.4.

9.2.2.2 Breeding season Make a judgment based on the season.

9.2.2.3 Number of fertile eggs Test according to the method given in GB/T 18654.6.

9.3 Cytogenetic characteristics Test according to the method given in GB/T 18654.12.

9.4 Molecular genetic characteristics Test according to the method described in Appendix A.

10 Judgment Rules

10.1 When the test results meet the requirements of Chapter 5, the species can be identified.

10.2 When the following situations occur, additional content in other chapters needs to be added for testing, and a comprehensive determination of the species should be made based on the test results.

a) If Chapter 5 cannot be detected or accurately determined, add the content of Chapter 7 or Chapter 8 for detection;

b) When a third party requests testing of all or part of Chapter 6;

c) During full-item testing. GB/T 32755-2026. Large Yellow Croaker ICS
