GB/T 31851-2015 is the English-translated version of 硅酮结构密封胶中烷烃增塑剂检测方法.
GB/T 31851-2015 is the Chinese national method for finding paraffin (alkane) plasticiser in a structural silicone sealant, an adulteration that ruins the durability of a glazing joint.
It gives the terms and definitions and three ways of testing: thermogravimetric analysis, thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopy, each with its apparatus, specimen preparation, conditions and evaluation, and it says what the test report must state.
It applies to the qualitative or quantitative detection of paraffin plasticiser in structural silicone sealants by those techniques. Curtain wall contractors, sealant makers and testing laboratories use it to check a delivery. Issued on 3 July 2015, it has applied since 1 June 2016.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the structural silicone sealant in paraffin plasticizer (hereinafter referred to as paraffin plasticizer) Terms and Definitions detection methods, General, TGA test methods, TG test methods, infrared spectroscopy test methods and test reports.
This standard applies to thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric method, quantitative or qualitative detection of structural silicone sealant alkanes Plasticizers (white oil, liquid paraffin). Other silicone sealants may also be implemented by reference.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Paraffin plasticizer
In the structural silicone sealant in addition to carbon - carbon single bond saturated hydrocarbon as a main component consisting of a plasticizer, such as mineral oil, liquid paraffin.
3.2 White oil
From light oil refined in one or chemically synthesized almost no color, fluorescent oil.

3.3 Liquid paraffin
Separating the resulting light from the kerosene or diesel oil n-alkanes.

4 General
4.1 Standard test conditions
Laboratory standard test conditions. temperature (23 ± 2) °C, relative humidity (50 ± 5)%.
4.2 Test samples and conditioning
The test sample is a one-component sealant on the original packaging or two-component sealant. Pre-production sample, the test sample should be placed under standard test conditions At least 24h.
