GB/T 31729-2015 is the English-translated version of 塑料薄膜单位面积质量试验方法.
GB/T 31729-2015 specifies the test method for the mass per unit area of plastic film.
Clause 1 states that the standard applies to the determination of the mass per unit area of plastic film, and adds that the method it specifies can also be used to determine the mass per unit area of plastic sheet and the apparent mass per unit area of microporous plastic film.
Clause 2 cites GB/T 2918-1998 on the conditioning and testing of plastic specimens in a standard environment and GB/T 6673-2001 on the determination of the length and width of plastic film and sheet.

This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules. The standard proposed by China National Light Industry Council.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the test method for plastic film mass per unit area.
This standard applies to the determination of mass per unit area of the plastic film.
Test methods specified in this standard can also be used a sheet of plastic mass per unit area and apparent quality plastic microporous film per unit area Determination.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Mass per unit area
Predetermined size and quality of the surface area of the plastic film ratio, expressed in grams per square meter (g/m2).
4 Test Instruments
Test equipment should include.
a) Analytical balance. Indexing is 0.1mg;
b) Steel ruler. indexing is 0.5mm;
c) the scale magnifier. 10x magnification, the mirror has a gauge, the index value is 0.1mm.
5 Sample
5.1 Sample Preparation
5.1.1 along the middle of the sample uniform sampling, sample preparation can be multi-stacked. Sample quality should be uniform, no impurities, particles, wrinkles and other effects test Obvious defects result.
