Scope
GB/T 31486-2024 is the English-translated version of 电动汽车用动力蓄电池电性能要求及试验方法.
GB/T 31486-2024 specifies the electrical performance requirements for traction battery cells used in electric vehicles and describes the corresponding test methods. It applies to lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride cells fitted to electric vehicles, with other cell types tested by reference. The document defines high energy and high power batteries by the ratio of maximum allowable output power to discharge energy, and sets requirements for appearance, polarity marking, mass and dimensions, room temperature discharge capacity, rate discharge and rate charge performance, low and high temperature discharge capacity, charge retention and capacity recovery, and storage — each with its acceptance threshold and, new in this edition, limits on the spread across test samples. The test conditions are fixed at 25 °C ± 2 °C, 10 % to 90 % relative humidity and 86 kPa to 106 kPa, with a 12 h environmental adaptation period and a chamber air speed not exceeding 1.7 m/s. This 2024 edition replaces GB/T 31486-2015: it adds the range requirements for high-temperature retention and storage, removes the module vibration test and the specific power test, and revises the discharge currents and the high temperature test temperature.
