Scope
GB/T 3089-2020 is the English-translated version of 不锈钢极薄壁无缝钢管.
GB/T 3089-2020 covers seamless ultra-thin wall stainless steel tubes made by spinning or by cold rolling or drawing. It specifies the ordering content, the size, shape, weight and allowable deviations, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the packaging, marking and quality certificate.
Normal lengths run from 800 mm to 6000 mm, tubes are delivered by actual weight and usually in the solution heat-treated state, and for heat-treated tubes with an outside diameter of 32.4 mm or less the curvature must not exceed 5 mm per metre.
It fixes the steel designations and their chemical composition, the smelting and manufacturing methods, the mechanical properties, the requirements for non-metallic inclusions and the surface quality.
It replaces GB/T 3089-2008, was issued on 28 April 2020 and has applied since 1 November 2020.

--- Add designation 06Cr17Ni12Mo2 (see 5.1.1 of this Edition);
--- Modify the smelting method of the steel (5.2.1 of this Edition; 5.2.1 of 2008 Edition);
--- Modify the manufacturing method of the steel tube (see 5.2.2 of this Edition; 5.2.2 of 2008 Edition);
--- Modify the mechanical properties (see 5.4 of this Edition; 5.4 of 2008 Edition);
--- Add the requirements for nonmetallic inclusions (see 5.5.2 of this Edition);
--- Modify the sampling method and test method for the inspection items of the steel tube; add the sampling quantity, sampling method and test method of nonmetallic inclusions (see 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 7.3 of this Edition; Clause 6, 7.3 of 2008 Edition).
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the ordering content, size, shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of seamless ultra-thin wall stainless-steel tubes.
This Standard is applicable to spinning or cold-rolled (drawn) seamless ultra-thin wall stainless-steel tubes (hereinafter referred to as steel tubes).

3 Ordering Content
The contract and ordering list that order products according to this Standard shall include the following contents. […]
4 Size, Shape, Weight and Allowable Deviation
4.1 Outer diameter and wall thickness
The nominal outer diameter (D) and nominal wall thickness (S) of the steel tube shall meet the requirements of Table 1. According to the requirements of the purchaser, after consultation between the supplier and the purchaser, steel tubes of other sizes than those specified in Table 1 are available.
4.2 Allowable deviation of nominal outer diameter
The allowable deviation of the nominal outer diameter of the steel tube shall conform to the provisions of Table 2. When the allowable deviation level of the size of steel tube is not specified in the contract, the allowable deviation of the outer diameter of the steel tube shall be delivered as an ordinary level.
