Scope

GB/T 30761-2025 is the English-translated version of 巴旦木坚果和果仁.

GB/T 30761-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering almonds traded in the shell and as kernels — the basic requirement that the nut is mature, the shell intact and the moisture not above 6.0 per cent, with no orange borer or fruit it has infested, the grades set by defect rate and by the share of kernels that come out whole, the inspection methods, the fumigation in store, and the packaging, labelling and transport. It replaces GB/T 30761-2014, under the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB/T 30761-2014.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 30761-2014 "Almonds". Compared with GB/T 30761-2014, the only changes are structural adjustments and editorial modifications.

In addition, the main technological changes are as follows.

— The scope of application of the standard has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2014 edition);

— Added nut quality grades (see Chapter 4);

— The quality grading for nuts has been changed (see Chapter 5, Chapter 4 in the 2014 edition);

— The testing method has been changed (see Chapter 6, Chapter 5 of the 2014 edition);

— The inspection rules have been changed (see Chapter 7, Chapter 6 in the 2014 edition);

— Packaging, labeling, storage, and transportation have been changed (see Chapter 8, Chapter 7 of the 2014 edition).

1 Scope

This document specifies the quality grades, inspection rules, packaging, labeling, and storage of almonds (Prunus amygdalus L.) nuts and kernels.

The document outlines the technical requirements for transportation and describes the corresponding inspection methods.

This document applies to the quality grading of almonds and nuts.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Defect rate

The percentage of nuts or kernels that have any defects that make them unsuitable for consumption (including mold, rancidity, insect infestation, etc.).

3.2 4 Nut Quality Grades

The percentage of nuts remaining after removing cuts, scratches, breaks, and fragments.

4 Nut Quality Grades

4.1 Basic Requirements

The nuts should be mature, with intact shells, a moisture content of <=6.0%, and should not contain orange borers or their infested fruit.

4.2 Grading Requirements

The quality grades and requirements for nuts should conform to the provisions of Table 1.
