GB/T 30558-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering a two-way classification of textiles made for a function rather than for clothing — the faceted scheme itself, one face by field of use running from agriculture and building through filtration and separation out to transport, healthcare, new energy and defence, the other face by process and product form, and the worked examples listed under each heading, which are what settle where a given fabric belongs. It replaces GB/T 30558-2014, under the China National Textile and Apparel Council. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB/T 30558-2014.

4 Classification Principles and Methods
4.1 The classification system takes into account both the current situation and new developments, leaving room for expansion, thus forming a scientific and reasonable classification system.
4.2 Based on the most stable essential attributes or characteristics of the product, first classify them according to the surface classification method, dividing them into two categories. by application and by process and product form.
"Surface"; then, following the linear classification method, the objects within each surface are successively divided into several categories; under each category, several examples are listed. Type of product.
4.3 Different "faces" form a parallel relationship, "faces" and categories form a subordinate relationship, and categories within the same "face" form a parallel relationship. List relationships.
