Scope

GB/T 30400-2013 is the English-translated version of 玩具填充物安全和卫生要求.

GB/T 30400-2013 sets safety and hygiene requirements for the filling materials used in toys.

Clause 1 states that the standard specifies the definition of toy filler, the requirements and the test methods, that it applies to toy fillers such as chemical fibres, natural fibres, foams, sponges, plastic granules, plant seeds and paper, and that it does not apply to liquid or paste fillings in toys.

Clause 3 defines the filler as the material filled inside a toy so that the toy shows a predetermined shape, repeats that list of materials and expressly excludes functional parts inside the toy such as sound, power and support components and electronic components; it defines foreign matter as a substance present in the filler that was not intentionally added.

Clause 4 carries the requirements. The general requirement in 4.1 is that the filler be evenly and firmly enclosed in the toy and that, after the conditioning and the abuse tests provided for in GB 6675.2, it must not fall off or become exposed, unless what becomes exposed or sheds still meets GB 6675.2.

Subclause 4.2 requires the filler to be sterilized material or new material, with plant seeds inactivated first; 4.3 forbids dangerous impurities such as scrap metal, nails, needles, wood chips, broken glass or plastic and other metal or sharp objects, and refers their test to 5.1; 4.4 forbids excrement and other unhealthy substances from insects, birds and rodents, and begins a prohibition on fleas, ticks and bugs before the draft breaks off.

The test methods announced in clause 1 are therefore not shown. Clause 2 cites GB 6675.2 and GB 15979-2002.

The page gives the Chinese classification as Y57 and the international classification as 97.200.50, estimates the document at about 9,945 words and names no superseded edition; the standard was issued on 31 December 2013 and has applied since 1 December 2014.
