Scope
GB/T 29361-2023 is the English-translated version of 法庭科学 电子数据文件一致性检验规程.
GB/T 29361-2023 is the Chinese code of practice for checking whether two electronic data files are identical, in forensic science work.
It specifies the instruments and equipment needed, from the electronic evidence examination workstation, the secure backup device, the read-only device and the storage media to software that computes hash values and compares files bit by bit, and then the operating steps: numbering and photographing the exhibit and the sample, running the antivirus on the workstation, keeping backups of both and computing their hash values with an algorithm listed in Annex A. It also fixes the inspection records, the way the result is stated and the precautions, and takes its terms from GA/T 1568.
It replaces GB/T 29361-2012, was issued on 17 March 2023 and has applied since 1 October 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
This document replaces GB/T 29361-2012 "Code for Consistency Inspection of Electronic Evidence Documents". Compared with GB/T 29361-2012, except Apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
--- Changed the terms and definitions (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the 2012 edition);
--- Changed hardware requirements (see 4.1, 4.1 of the 2012 edition);
--- Changed the software requirements (see 4.2, 4.2 of the 2012 edition);

3 Terms and Definitions

4 Instruments and equipment
4.1 Hardware
Electronic physical evidence inspection workstation, security backup equipment, read-only equipment, storage media, etc.
4.2 Software
Software with the function of calculating hash values, software with the function of bit-for-bit comparison of electronic data files, etc.
5 Operation steps
5.1 Inspection material (sample) serial number and photograph
Add a unique number to the test material (sample) or the storage medium storing the test material file (sample file) and take a photo.
5.2 Antivirus
Start the antivirus software to antivirus the electronic physical evidence inspection workstation system.
5.3 Inspection
5.3.1 Keep backups of inspection materials (or inspection material files) and samples (or sample files).
5.3.2 To calculate the hash values of inspection material files and sample files respectively, the hash algorithm listed in Appendix A should be selected.
