GB/T 27912-2026 is the English-translated version of 金融服务 生物特征识别 安全框架.

Biometric recognition is increasingly used by banks, payment institutions and other financial providers to confirm who a customer is, and this recommended national standard sets out a security framework for that use in financial services. It is written for the people who design, build, operate and assess biometric authentication inside financial products: system architects, security engineers, risk and compliance officers, solution vendors and third-party evaluators.

The document carries the title Financial services - Biometrics - Security framework and was issued under the authority of the People's Bank of China on 28 September 2026. It becomes effective on 1 April 2027 and replaces GB/T 27912-2011, so institutions that built their controls around the earlier edition will want to compare their current practice with the new text. As a GB/T document it is recommended rather than compulsory, although financial regulators and procurement teams in China often use such standards as a reference point when judging the security of identity-verification systems.
