Scope
GB/T 26196-2010 is the English-translated version of 烟花爆竹 烟火药中碳含量的测定 高频-红外吸收法.
GB/T 26196-2010 lays down a high frequency-infrared absorption method for determining the carbon content of pyrotechnic compositions used in fireworks and firecrackers.
Clause 1 states that the standard applies to the determination of total carbon content in fireworks pyrotechnic compositions.
Before clause 1 the standard carries a warning: it is to be used by personnel with regular laboratory experience, it does not identify every possible safety problem, and because the compositions it covers are flammable and explosive dangerous goods it imposes three safety rules, namely that sample preparation be carried out under protective measures, that the quantity prepared and stored not exceed what the safety conditions allow, and that drying be done in a safe explosion-proof oven at a temperature not above 55 degrees Celsius.
Clause 3 gives the principle: the sample is burned in an oxygen stream in a high frequency induction furnace, the carbon dioxide produced is carried by the oxygen into the measuring cell of an infrared detector, and the instrument measures the absorption of infrared energy, from which the amount of carbon in the sample is calculated.
Clause 4 covers the instruments and materials, requiring usual laboratory equipment plus an infrared carbon and sulfur analyzer with a sensitivity of not less than 0.0001 per cent and a precision of 0.0002 per cent; Table 1 states the working conditions for a CS-902T high frequency infrared carbon and sulfur analyzer, including oxygen carrier gas of at least 99.9 per cent purity, an oxygen inlet pressure of 0.08 MPa, a power gas (nitrogen) pressure of 0.2 MPa to 0.3 MPa, an induction furnace power of 1.0 kW to 2.5 kW, a pressing time of 15 s to 20 s and an analysis time of 30 s to 60 s.
The normative references are GB/T 8170 on rules for expressing and rounding values and judging limiting values, and GB/T 15813-1995 on the separation and crushing of fireworks composition samples.
The standard was proposed by the China National Light Industry Council and is administered by the national fireworks standardization technical committee, SAC/TC 149. It was issued on 2011-01-14 and has applied since 2011-06-01.

3 Principle
After heating the sample in a high frequency induction furnace combustion oxygen stream, the carbon dioxide produced from the oxygen carrier to an infrared detector measuring cell, the instrument Automatic measuring the absorption of infrared light energy can be calculated by the amount of carbon in the sample.
4 Instruments and materials
Usual laboratory equipment and the following. […]
4.1 Infrared carbon and sulfur analyzer
Under the selected instrument conditions were determined. Meet the following requirements, this method can be measured.
4.1.1 Sensitivity of not less than 0.0001%
4.1.2 precision should reach 0.0002%.
