Scope
GB/T 24999-2018 is the English-translated version of 纸和纸板 D65亮度最高限量.
GB/T 24999-2018 sets the maximum D65 brightness allowed for paper and board products.
In a single table it gives the upper limit, as a percentage, for uncoated printing and writing papers such as newsprint, copy paper, light printing paper, offset paper and writing paper, for coated paper and board, for tissue products made from virgin or recycled pulp, including toilet paper, paper towels and kitchen towels, and for technical papers such as thermal paper, carbonless copy paper and food wrapping paper and board.
Brightness is measured by the diffuse/vertical method of GB/T 7974, on samples taken according to GB/T 450. Paper mills and inspection bodies use it when checking product compliance.
It replaces GB/T 24999-2010, was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 24999-2010 "paper and board brightness (whiteness) maximum limit", compared with GB/T 24999-2010, The main changes are as follows.
--- Removed the D65 brightness limit specification for inkjet paper;
--- Increased the classification of products;
--- Added D65 brightness limit regulations for carbonless copy paper and light printing paper;
---Adjusted the D65 brightness limit value of newsprint, writing paper, toilet paper and paper towel.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the maximum limit for the brightness of paper and cardboard D65.
This standard applies to related paper and board.
