GB/T 24737.3-2009 is the English-translated version of 工艺管理导则 第3部分：产品结构工艺性审查.

GB/T 24737.3-2009 fixes how the review of the technological efficiency of a product design, that is the process review of the product structure, is to be carried out: its object, its purpose, the tasks, the contents and the procedures, together with the main factors to consider in the assessment and the evaluation forms.

Clause 1 states that this Part applies to the process analysis and review of the structure of mechanical products.

Clause 2 defines the review as a comprehensive examination, at the product design stage, of the product and of the process aspects of its components, ending in comments or recommendations; it distinguishes the manufacturing technology of a product structure, meaning the feasibility, ease and economy of making it in production, from its use technology, meaning the feasibility, ease and economy of repairing and maintaining it in service.

Clause 3 fixes the object of the review: every new product design and every improved product design is to be process-reviewed at the design stage, and externally supplied product designs are to be reviewed before trial production.

Clause 4 states its purpose: that the product can be made by more economical and reasonable methods under existing production conditions while still meeting the quality requirements of users and the technical requirements, with less negative impact from the manufacturing process on the environment, better use of resources, better working conditions, fewer hazards for operators and easier use, maintenance and recycling.

Clause 5 divides manufacturability into the production-process and use-technology categories and opens the list of factors to weigh in the assessment, among them the type and complexity of the product, its output or type of production, and production efficiency and economy.
