GB/T 21739-2025 is the English-translated version of 家用电梯制造与安装安全规范.

GB/T 21739-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering a lift inside a private house — the shaft, machine space and pit and their lighting, ventilation and access, the landing and car doors and their locking, the car walls, roof, handrails and emergency lighting, the suspension ropes or belts, the brake and its monitoring, the electrical safety devices listed in the normative table, and the automatic rescue device that brings the car to a landing when the power fails. Rack-and-pinion driven home lifts, covered by the 2008 edition, are now out of scope. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB/T 21739-2008.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 21739-2008 "Code for Manufacturing and Installation of Home Elevators". Compared with GB/T 21739-2008, except for the structure...

Aside from adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

— The scope of application has been changed, and the content and requirements applicable to gear and rack driven home elevators have been removed (see Chapter 1, 2008). Chapter 1 (Year Edition)

— The term "building in use" has been changed to "existing building," and its definition has been revised (see 3.2, 2008 edition).

— The term and definition of "competent personnel" have been removed (see 3.3 in the 2008 edition);

— Added requirements for signs, markings, warnings, and operating instructions (see 4.1.2);

— Performance requirements under fire conditions have been changed (see 4.3, 4.4 in the 2008 edition);

— Noise requirements have been added (see 4.4);

— The protection requirements against harmful external influences have been removed (see 4.12 in the 2008 edition);

— The protection rating requirement for outdoor use has been removed (see 4.13 of the 2008 edition);

— The minimum channel requirement has been removed (see 4.14 in the 2008 version);

— The requirements for shafts and machine rooms have been changed (see 4.5.1.2, 5.1 in the 2008 version);

— Increased ventilation requirements for shafts and machine spaces (see 4.5.1.3);

— Added lighting requirements for shaft and machine space (see 4.5.1.4);

— Added requirement to install lighting control switches within the machine space (see 4.5.1.5.2);

— Added requirements for equipment hoisting (see 4.5.1.6);

— The strength and surface requirements for walls, floors, and ceilings have been changed (see 4.5.1.7 and 4.5.1.8, 5.7 in the 2008 edition);

— The protection requirements for the space below the shaft have been changed (see 4.5.5.5, 5.5 in the 2008 version);

— Added protection requirements for areas operating under heavy or counterweight conditions (see 4.5.5.6);

— The top-level space requirement has been changed (see 4.5.5.8, version 5.3 of the 2008 edition);

— The pit space requirements have been changed (see 4.5.5.9, 5.4 in the 2008 version);

— Added warnings and instructions regarding machine space requirements (see 4.5.6.2);

— Added requirements for machines to be located in the computer room (see 4.5.6.3);

— Increased requirements for machine protection, operating space, and marking within the shaft (see 4.5.6.4.1);

— Increased the size requirements for the working area within the shaft (see 4.5.6.4.2);

— Added requirements for the working area inside the car (see 4.5.6.4.3);

— The requirements for the machine's working area outside the hoistway have been changed (see 4.5.6.5.2, 4.3.2.3 in the 2008 version);

— The requirements for emergency and test operation equipment have been changed (see 4.5.6.6, 4.3.2.1 of the 2008 version);

— The ramp setup requirements have been changed (see 4.6.4, 6.4.6 in the 2008 version);

— The horizontal distance requirement between the manual car door sill and the landing door sill has been changed (see 4.6.5, 12.1.1.2 in the 2008 version);

— The mechanical strength requirements for landing doors and car doors have been changed (see 4.6.6.2, 6.4.7 and 7.13.2.7 in the 2008 edition);
