Scope
GB/T 20975.15-2020 is the English-translated version of 铝及铝合金化学分析方法 第15部分:硼含量的测定.
GB/T 20975.15-2020 is the part of the Chinese series on the chemical analysis of aluminium and aluminium alloys that determines the boron content. It gives two ion selective electrode methods: after dissolving the sample in hydrofluoric acid, for 0.0010 % to 5.00 % boron, and after dissolving it in mixed acid, for more than 5.00 % to 11.50 %.
It applies to the arbitration determination of boron in aluminium and aluminium alloys. Aluminium producers and analytical laboratories use it. Issued on 19 November 2020, it has applied since 1 October 2021, replacing GB/T 20975.15-2008.

4 Hydrofluoric acid sample dissolution-ion selective electrode method
4.1 Method summary
The sample is dissolved with hydrofluoric acid and hydrogen peroxide, boron is converted into fluoroborate ions, and the pH of the test solution is adjusted to 5-6 with sodium hydroxide solution.
Fluoroborate ion-selective electrode measures the potential value of fluoroborate ion to determine the boron content. The sum of copper mass fraction and iron mass fraction When it is greater than 10%, it interferes with the determination and is eliminated by complexation with disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid.
4.2 Reagents
Unless otherwise stated, only reagents and laboratory secondary water confirmed to be analytically pure are used in the analysis.
4.2.1 Pure aluminum (wAl>=99.99%, wB<=0.0005%).
4.2.2 Hydrofluoric acid (rho=1.14g/mL).
4.2.3 Hydrogen peroxide (rho=1.10g/mL).
4.2.4 Disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Na2EDTA) solution (100g/L).
4.2.5 Sodium hydroxide solution (200g/L), stored in a polyethylene bottle.
4.2.6 Boron standard solution A. Weigh 0.5720g of boric acid (excellent grade pure) that has been dried in a vacuum dryer in a 400mL beaker, add Pour.200mL of water and heat it to completely dissolve it. After cooling, transfer to a 500mL volumetric flask, dilute to the mark with water, and mix well. Stored in polyethylene […]
