--- Added "Terms and Definitions" (see Chapter 3);

---Added requirements for reagents and water used in analysis (see 4.2 and 5.2);

---Modified the precision of the benzoylphenylhydrazine spectrophotometric method (see 4.7, Chapter 8 of the 2008 edition);

--- Added "Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate Titration Method" (see Chapter 5);

--- Added "Test Report" (see Chapter 6).

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 20975 specifies the benzoylphenylhydrazine spectrophotometric method and ferrous ammonium sulfate titration method for the determination of vanadium in aluminum and aluminum alloys content.

This section applies to the arbitration determination of vanadium content in aluminum and aluminum alloys. Benzoyl phenylhydrazine spectrophotometry measuring range. 0.0005%~ 1.00%. The measurement range of ferrous ammonium sulfate titration method. >1.00%~12.00%.

4 Benzoylphenylhydrazine spectrophotometry

4.1 Method summary

The sample is decomposed with sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide. Acidification with sulfuric acid, in a sulfuric acid-phosphoric acid medium, the vanadium is oxidized to pentavalent with potassium permanganate status. In the presence of urea, the excess potassium permanganate is reduced with sodium nitrite. Extract the yellow color formed by vanadium and benzoylphenylhydrazine with chloroform Complex. In the spectrophotometer wavelength 440nm, the absorbance was measured to determine the vanadium content.

The interference of hexavalent chromium is eliminated by reducing it to a low price with sodium sulfite.

4.2 Reagents

Unless otherwise stated, only reagents and laboratory secondary water confirmed to be analytically pure are used in the analysis.

4.2.1 Phosphoric acid (rho=1.69g/mL).

4.2.2 Hydrogen peroxide (rho=1.10g/mL).

4.2.3 Sodium hydroxide solution (200g/L), stored in a polyethylene bottle.

4.2.4 Sulfuric acid (1 1).

4.2.5 Sodium sulfite solution (30g/L), prepared when used.

4.2.6 Potassium permanganate solution (1g/L).
