Scope

GB/T 19883-2018 is the English-translated version of 果冻.

GB/T 19883-2018 is the Chinese product standard for jelly, the gel food made mainly from water, sugar and/or starch sugar with thickeners and other additives, with or without fruit and vegetable products or milk products, and processed by sol formation, blending, filling, sterilization and cooling.

It covers product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labelling, packaging, transport and storage. Products are classified by form, for example gel jelly that keeps its shape once out of the container, such as cup-shaped gel jelly.

Compared with the 2005 edition it revises the classification and the specification requirements, sets the soluble solids of drinkable jelly at 10.0 g/100 g or more, drops the sulfur dioxide residue limit and adds sampling rules for microbial tests.

It replaces GB/T 19883-2005, was issued on 7 June 2018 and has applied since 1 January 2019.
