Scope

GB/T 1964-2023 is the English-translated version of 多孔陶瓷 室温压缩强度试验方法.

GB/T 1964-2023 is the Chinese method for measuring the compressive strength of porous ceramics at room temperature. It describes the test itself and specifies the apparatus, the test pieces, the test conditions and procedure, the calculation of results and the test report.

Clause 4 asks for a testing machine complying with GB/T 16491 that records load against displacement or test time automatically, and for a micrometer or vernier caliper graduated to at least 0.02 mm complying with GB/T 21389 to measure the specimen.

Clause 3 defines porous ceramics as ceramic materials with pores from 0.05 um to 100 um and an apparent porosity of 25 % to 90 %. It also cites GB/T 17991. It replaces GB/T 1964-1996, was issued on 27 November 2023 and has applied since 1 June 2024.

Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 1964-1996 "Test Method for Compressive Strength of Porous Ceramics". Compared with GB/T 1964-1996, except for the structure, in addition to adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

---Changed the requirements for instruments and equipment (see Chapter 4, 2.1 of the 1996 edition);

---Changed the requirements for samples (see Chapter 5, Chapter 3 of the 1996 edition);

---Added test conditions (see 6.1);

---Changed the test method (see 6.4, 4.3 of the 1996 version);

---Added requirements for discrete coefficients (see 7.2);

---Changed the content of the test report (see Chapter 8, Chapter 6 of the 1996 edition);

---Deleted the requirements for data processing (see 5.2~5.4 and Appendix A of the 1996 edition).

1 Scope

This document describes the test method for measuring the compressive strength of porous ceramics at room temperature, and specifies the equipment, samples, test procedures, results and calculations and test reports.

This document is applicable to the determination of room temperature compressive strength of porous ceramics.

2 Normative reference documents

The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, the dated quotations For undated referenced documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated referenced documents, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

GB/T 21389 Verniers, band meters and digital calipers

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 17991 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Porous ceramics

Ceramic materials with pore diameters ranging from 0.05µm to 100µm and apparent porosity ranging from 25% to 90%. [Source: GB/T 17991-2009, 2.1.36, with modifications]

4 Instruments and Equipment

4.1 Testing machine

The testing machine should comply with the regulations of GB/T 16491 and be able to automatically record the relationship curve between load and displacement or test time.

4.2 Data collection

Automatically record load vs. displacement or test time curves.

4.3 Measuring tools

Use a micrometer or vernier caliper with a graduation value of at least 0.02mm that complies with GB/T 21389 to measure the linearity of the sample parameter.
