Scope
GB/T 19608.3-2026 is the English-translated version of 特殊环境条件分级 第3部分:高原.
GB/T 19608.3-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the plateau as a defined environment - the reduced air pressure and density, the lower boiling point, the wider temperature swing and the intense ultraviolet, each graded by altitude band so that equipment can be specified for it. Much of western China is above 3,000 metres, where insulation clearances, cooling and combustion all behave differently. It replaces GB/T 19608.3-2004 and has been in force since 1 November 2026. It was issued on 30 April 2026 and takes effect on 1 November 2026, replacing GB/T 19608.3-2004. The document is under the responsibility of the Standardization Administration of China. This page is published from the official record of the 2026 edition; the clause text of a standard this recent is not yet in circulation, and the figures, limits and tables it contains are those of the document itself, delivered in full with the English translation.

1.Scope This document specifies the environmental parameters of the product under high-altitude environmental conditions and their severity classification. This document applies to products stored, transported, loaded, unloaded, installed, and used in high-altitude environments ranging from 1000m to 5500m. The product is selected based on the degree of environmental impact it is subject to, including the applicable projects and levels. This document does not apply to products used in special environmental conditions such as high-altitude areas where explosive hazardous substances exist or in mines.
4.Overview of Environmental Conditions Plateau environmental conditions consist of climatic environmental conditions (K), special climatic environmental conditions (Z), chemically active substance conditions (C), and mechanically active substance conditions. Conditions (S), mechanical environmental conditions (M), and biological environmental conditions (B) are described in a hierarchical manner. Environmental condition classification allows for possible combinations of various environmental conditions, accurately reflecting the impact of environmental conditions on product storage, transportation, loading and unloading, and installation. And its use. For some environmental parameters, it is difficult to quantify their severity level. According to GB/T 4798.10, environmental condition levels are indicated as follows:
---The first digit indicates the application conditions (1 for storage, 2 for transportation and handling, only considered under mechanical environmental conditions, 3 for...). (4 indicates fixed use in locations with climate protection; 4 indicates fixed use in locations without climate protection).
---Capital letters, climatic and environmental conditions (K), special climatic and environmental conditions (Z), chemically active substance conditions (C), mechanically active substance conditions Components (S), mechanical environmental conditions (M), and biological environmental conditions (B);
---lowercase letters. air pressure (p), thermal radiation (h), air motion (a), water sources other than rainwater (w), snowfall (s);
---The other number indicates the severity level; generally, the higher the number, the more severe the conditions. Example. Level 2Kp3, where. 2 represents transportation, K represents climate conditions, p represents air pressure, and 3 represents severity level.
5 Severity levels of various environmental conditions
5.1 Climate and Environmental Conditions (K) When selecting an appropriate rating, it is important to consider whether the climate conditions of the climate-protected area are affected by the outdoor environment, especially temperature and humidity. The effects of solar radiation.
5.3 Conditions for Chemically Active Substances (C) Chemically active substances mainly refer to corrosive gases. The severity levels of conditions for chemically active substances are shown in Table 3.
5.5 Mechanical Environmental Conditions (M) The mechanical environmental conditions described in this document include conditions that may exist during storage, transportation and handling, installation, and use, such as those caused by The normal operation of the equipment and vibrations from nearby vehicles create mechanical environmental conditions. Vibration and mechanical shock environments are depicted in Figures 1 and 2, respectively. The severity levels of mechanical environmental conditions are described in Table 5.
5.6 Biological environmental conditions (B) The severity levels of biological environmental conditions are shown in Table 6.
