Foreword

This document has been drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020, Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.

This document is Part 3 of GB/T 19608, Classification of special environmental conditions. The following parts of GB/T 19608 have been published:

- Part 1: Dry heat;

- Part 2: Dry-heat desert;

- Part 3: Plateau.

This document replaces GB/T 19608.3-2004, Classification of special environmental conditions - Part 3: Plateau. Compared with GB/T 19608.3-2004, apart from structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) the "Scope" has been changed: the field of application has been changed to plateau environments of 1000 m to 5500 m, and environmental parameters and their severity classification for "storage, transportation and handling, installation and use" have been added (see Clause 1; Clause 1 of the 2004 edition);

b) "Terms and definitions" has been changed, GB/T 20625 replacing GB/T 11804 (see Clause 3; Clause 3 of the 2004 edition);

c) "Environmental conditions" has been changed to "Overview of environmental conditions" (see Clause 4; 4.3 of the 2004 edition);

d) "Severity levels of the various environmental conditions" has been changed, the old classification being replaced by a new one (see Clause 5; 4.4 of the 2004 edition);

e) "Description of environmental conditions of different classes" has been changed and moved from former Annex B into the body of the document (see Clause 5; Annex B of the 2004 edition);

f) the environmental parameter grades of "climatic environmental conditions" have been changed, with the addition of "maximum temperature at relative humidity >= 95 %", "annual mean rainfall" and "annual sunshine hours" (see Table 1; Table 1 of the 2004 edition);

g) the environmental parameter grades of "special climatic environmental conditions" have been changed, with the addition of "snowfall" (see Table 2; Table 2 of the 2004 edition);

h) the environmental parameter grades of "chemically active substance conditions" have been changed, with the addition of "salt mist" and "nitrogen oxides" (see Table 3; Table 4 of the 2004 edition).
