---First published in.2004 as GB/T 19599.2-2004;
---This is the first revision.
Fishing gear materials refer to the materials used directly to assemble fishing gear, mainly including fishing net lines, fishing net sheets, fishing ropes, floats, and sinkers. Materials. The testing methods for fishing net sheets aim to standardize the terminology and definitions, instruments and equipment, samples, test procedures, and test numbers related to net quality and size. According to the processing and testing reports, the standard testing methods for fishing net sheets meet the dimensional testing requirements of net sheet materials, promoting production, trade, and scientific research. The event proceeded smoothly. Due to variations in mesh quality and size, different instruments, testing procedures, and data processing were employed, affecting the scale of related industries. The scale is enormous, and the industry is accustomed to testing them separately. High-quality development of fisheries requires a corresponding standardized system for fishing gear and materials. GB/T 19599, "Test Methods for Fishing Net Sheets," aims to standardize the test methods for the quality and dimensions of fishing net sheets, in order to facilitate net sheet monitoring. Management, production, trade, testing, evaluation, and cooperation and exchange provide technological support for the development of the netting industry, and contribute to modern fisheries such as deep-sea aquaculture. High-quality development is proposed to consist of the following two parts.
1 Scope
GB/T 19599.2-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering measuring the mesh size and the dimensions of netting - the figure that determines what escapes and what is caught, and therefore the figure a fisheries inspector measures on a boat. It replaces GB/T 19599.2-2004 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, with Part 1 on the mass of netting. It was issued on 27 February 2026 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, replacing GB/T 19599.2-2004. The document is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This document describes the instruments and equipment, samples, test procedures, test data processing, and test reports used for testing the size of fishing net sheets. This document applies to the determination of the length, width, and side length of fishing net panels. For the determination of other net panel dimensions, please refer to the relevant documentation. use.

4 Instruments and Equipment
4.1 Thermometer and hygrometer Temperature measurement accuracy is no greater than 0.5°C, and relative humidity measurement accuracy is no greater than 3%.
4.2 Length measuring instrument or distance measuring instrument Length measuring instruments such as measuring tapes with a graduation value of no more than 1 mm, infrared rangefinders, and laser rangefinders are used.
5 Samples
Under the same processing conditions, 100 pieces of wire mesh of the same variety and specification constitute a batch, and fewer than 100 pieces also constitute a batch. From each batch of wire mesh... One piece may be randomly selected as a sample for testing, or a sample may be taken according to the method agreed upon by both parties in the contract.
6 Experimental Procedure
6.1 Test Conditions The sample should be conditioned for 6 hours under the atmospheric conditions specified in SC/T 5014 before the test.
6.2 Temperature and Humidity Measurement Use a thermometer and hygrometer to measure the ambient temperature and humidity of the test site.
6.3.1 Measurement of mesh length
6.3.1.1 Determination of screen length expressed in terms of mesh count When the length of a mesh is expressed in terms of mesh count, the number of meshes arranged parallel to each other along the length of the mesh is counted one by one.
6.3.1.2 Determination of mesh length in meters When the length of the mesh is expressed in meters, it shall be measured according to the following method.
a) First, place the wire mesh on a flat, dry surface. Then, flatten and straighten it, and finally, fold and straighten the mesh legs to make the mesh... The piece is fully extended;
b) Randomly select one mesh in the middle of the mesh. Using a length measuring instrument or rangefinder, measure the mesh length starting from the first mesh at one end, following the direction of mesh length formation. The length of the mesh is the straight line formed by the continuous number of meshes at one end.
6.3.2 Measurement of mesh width
6.3.2.1 Determination of wire mesh width expressed in terms of mesh count When the width of a wire mesh is expressed in terms of mesh count, the number of meshes arranged parallel to each other along the width direction is counted one by one.
6.3.2.2 Determination of mesh width in meters When the width of the mesh is expressed in meters, it shall be measured according to the method described in 6.3.1.2.
6.3.3 Measurement of the side length of the wire mesh
6.3.3.1 Determination of the side length of the wire mesh expressed in terms of mesh count When the side length of a wire mesh is expressed in terms of mesh count, count the number of meshes arranged in parallel on the left or right side of each mesh.
6.3.3.2 Determination of the side length of the mesh sheet in meters When the side length of the mesh is expressed in meters, take one whole mesh from the left or right side of the mesh and measure it according to the method described in 6.3.1.2.
7 Experimental Data Processing
7.1 General Rules The dimensions of the wire mesh, including its length, width, and side length, are generally measured once (see
6.3.1 to 6.3.3). These dimensions are determined through negotiation between both parties. Note that the mesh size can be measured three times under agreed-upon environmental conditions, and the result is taken as the arithmetic mean of the three measurements, which should be included in the test report. The following explanation is provided. The calculations for the various mesh dimensions are detailed in sections
7.2 Mesh Size
7.2.1 Wire Mesh Length If the wire mesh length is expressed in mesh count, the result will be in mesh count; if the wire mesh length is expressed in meters, the result will be in meters. The results are in meters (m) and rounded to three significant figures.
7.2.2 Mesh Width If the wire mesh width is expressed in mesh count, the result will be in mesh count; if the wire mesh width is expressed in meters, the result will be in meters. The results are in meters (m) and rounded to three significant figures.
7.2.3 Wire Mesh Side Length If the side length of the wire mesh is expressed in mesh count, the result will be in mesh count; if the side length of the wire mesh is expressed in meters, the result will be in meters. The results are in meters (m) and rounded to three significant figures.
