Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part
1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 19166-2003 "Simmental Cattle of China". Compared with GB/T 19166-2003, the main differences are structural adjustments and revisions. Aside from the logical changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) All terms have been removed (see Chapter 3 of the.2003 edition);
b) Added information on variety origin and characteristics (see Chapter 4);
c) Changes were made to body shape and appearance (see Chapter 5,
4.1 in the.2003 edition);
d) Body size and weight data have been revised (see 6.1,
4.2.5 of the.2003 edition);
e) Changes were made to milk production performance, meat production performance, and reproductive performance (see 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4; 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.4, and
4.2.4 in the.2003 edition). 4.3);
f) Changes were made to the assessment of body shape, weight, milk yield, and overall cow evaluation (see Chapter 7, 5.1, 4.2.3,

This document specifies the basic requirements for the breed origin and characteristics, conformation, production performance, and grading of Simmental cattle in China. The method for measuring production performance is described. This document applies to the breed identification and grading of Simmental cattle in China.
3 Terms and Definitions
This document does not contain any terms or definitions that need to be defined.
4.Variety Origin and Characteristics Chinese Simmental cattle were developed through progressive crossbreeding and continuous selective breeding between imported dual-purpose (dairy and beef) Simmental cattle and local yellow cattle. Dual-purpose (dairy and beef) cattle breeds have good milk and meat production performance, strong adaptability, and wide distribution.
5.Physical appearance Its coat is a mix of red (yellow) and white, with mottled patterns. The head is predominantly white, while the limbs, abdomen, and tail tip are all white, exhibiting a "four-white" characteristic; most of the body... Bulls have horns; their bodies are broad and deep, with well-developed muscles. Bulls have withers and well-developed dewlaps; cows have a slender build, well-developed udders, and prominent milk veins. See Appendix A for the physical characteristics of cattle and cows.
6 Production performance
6.1 Body measurements and weight The average birth weight of bulls is
5.7 kg, and that of cows is
4.7 kg. The body measurements and weights of bulls and cows at different ages should conform to... Requirements in Table 1.
6.2 Milk production performance Under normal management conditions, the milk yield, milk fat percentage, and milk protein percentage of adult cows at different parities during 305 days of lactation should meet the requirements of Table 2.
6.3 Meat production performance Under moderate nutritional conditions, bulls fattened for 180 days to 18 months of age had a daily weight gain of
0.1 kg and a pre-slaughter live weight of 573.6 kg ± The weight was
69.9 kg, the carcass weight was 346.5 kg ±
38.2 kg, the dressing percentage was (60.4 ± 4.9)%, and the net meat percentage was (52.0 ± 5.6)%.
6.4 Reproductive performance
6.4.1 Bulls aged 12 to 15 months can have their semen collected, and the quality of frozen semen should meet the requirements of GB 4143.
6.4.2 The age of first mating for cows is 15 to 18 months, the estrous cycle is 18 to 21 days, and the gestation period is 282 to 290 days.
7 Rating
7.1 Assessment of Body Shape and Appearance Score body shape and appearance according to Table 3, and grade body shape and appearance according to Table 4.
7.2 Weight Assessment Weight class assessment shall be conducted according to Table 5.
7.3 Milk Yield Assessment The milk production grade was determined according to Table 6 after 305 days.
7.4 Comprehensive Assessment of Cows The comprehensive evaluation of cows was conducted according to Table 7.
8 Production performance testing methods
8.1 Body size, weight, meat production performance and reproductive performance shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 43838.
