Scope

GB/T 19144-2026 is the English-translated version of 沉积岩中干酪根分离方法.

Kerogen is the insoluble organic matter in sedimentary rock, and this standard covers the method for isolating it from rock samples. Isolation is a preparatory step for geochemical work, so the document is relevant to petroleum geologists, source rock evaluation teams, geochemistry laboratories, research institutes and service companies that analyze rock samples for exploration and basin studies.

It is a recommended national standard issued on 28 September 2026. Unlike most documents released the same day, it takes effect earlier, on 1 January 2027. It replaces GB/T 19144-2010, so laboratories working to the older text should plan the changeover. Application is voluntary unless a client, regulator or contract requires it. Foreign laboratories and exploration companies dealing with Chinese data sets or partners can consult the document to understand how kerogen preparation is expected to be carried out and reported in domestic practice.
