1 Scope

GB/T 18376.2-2024 is the Chinese national standard on grades of cemented carbide - part 2:grades of cemented carbide for rock drilling and engineering, in the field of metallurgy. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 28 November 2024 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 June 2025. 4 Brand designation rules and classification codes

4.1 Brand designation rules The grades of cemented carbide for rock drilling and engineering use are composed of characteristic code G, classification code (see Table 1), grouping code (see Table 2, using 05, 10, 20 two-digit group indicates that, if necessary, an intermediate supplementary group number can be inserted between two group numbers, represented by 15, 25, 35 subdivision code (used when necessary, with no more than 3 characters, the first character is an uppercase English letter, followed by Arabic numerals 199), as shown below. Example 1. The cemented carbide grade classified as cemented carbide for rock drilling bits and grouped as 10 is marked as. GA10. Example 2. Cemented carbide grades classified as cemented carbide for rock drill bits and grouped as 10, when the chemical composition is different from GA10, are marked as. GA10A.
