Scope

GB/T 18188.2-2025 is the English-translated version of 溢油分散剂 第2部分:使用准则.

GB/T 18188.2-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering when a dispersant may be used on a spill and when it must not - the water depth and the dilution available, the oil type and how long it has weathered, the sensitive areas to keep clear of, the dose and the aerial or vessel application. Dispersant does not remove oil, it moves it into the water column: the decision is a trade-off. It replaces GB/T 18188.2-2000, a standard twenty-five years old, under the Ministry of Transport. Issued on 2 December 2025, it has been in force since 1 July 2026, replacing GB/T 18188.2-2000.
