This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This standard replaces GB/T 17658-1999 "Test method for fire propagation test of flame retardant wood burning performance". 1 Scope

GB/T 17658-2018 is the Chinese national standard on test of burning behavior for flame retardant treated wood - method of test for fire propagation, in the field of wood technology. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 17 September 2018 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 April 2019. This standard specifies the test method for the combustion performance of fire-retardant wood materials under fire conditions such as fire propagation index and weight loss rate. This standard applies to the testing of the burning properties of wood, wood-based panels and other wood composites.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
