This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1.Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents"

This document replaces GB/T 16711-1996 "Bank Identification Code for Bank Telecom Messages", and GB/T 16711-1996

In comparison, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Rename "Bank Identification Code" to "Business Identification Code" (see full text);

b) Added terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);

c) Changed the elements of the commercial identification code (see 5.2, Chapter 4 of the.1996 edition);

d) Add business identification code data records (see Chapter 6);

e) Changed the structural description of the commercial identification code (see Chapter 4 and Chapter 5, Chapter 4 of the.1996 edition).

This document identically adopts ISO 9362.2022 "Commercial Identification Code for Bank Telecom Messages in the Banking Industry".

This document specifies a common Business Identifier Code (BIC) for the automatic processing of financial services information among financial and non-financial institutions

components and structure.

Business identification codes are used to process messages, route transactions, and identify business organizations.
