Scope
GB/T 15094-2008 is the English-translated version of 船舶工艺术语 修船工艺.
GB/T 15094-2008 is the Chinese national terminology standard for ship repairing technology, giving each term in Chinese with its English equivalent and a definition.
It covers dock repair (docking, blocking arrangement, propeller work, surface preparation and painting), hull repair (conversion, gas-free inspection, thickness measurement, plate renewal), marine diesel engine repair (crankshaft reconditioning, alignment and positioning, crank deflection, timing, running-in and engine test), boiler repair (furnace brickwork, drying, boiling out, hydraulic and safety valve tests) and other general repair processes such as bushing, brush plating and chromium plating.
It applies to ship research, design, construction, teaching, management and related fields. It replaces GB/T 15094-1994: two terms were deleted, the terms for underwater maintenance, underwater adhesion and the steel sandwich plate system were added, and the Chinese and English indexes were supplemented.
Issued on 30 July 2008, in force since 1 February 2009. Classification: ICS 47.020.01, CCS U04. The document runs to 15 pages, delivered complete in English translation.

Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 15094-1994, Terminology for ship technology - Ship repairing technology.
Compared with GB/T 15094-1994, the main changes in this standard are as follows:
- the terms "cover plate" and "deviation correction of direction finder" have been deleted;
- the terms "underwater maintenance", "underwater adhesion" and "sandwich plate system with steel plate" have been added;
- part of the Chinese index and the English index has been supplemented.
This standard was proposed by China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Ship Fundamentals Subcommittee of the National Technical Committee on Marine Ships of Standardization Administration of China.
Drafting organisation of this standard: Tianjin Ship Repair Technology Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.
