Scope

GB/T 15072.6-2025 is the English-translated version of 贵金属合金化学分析方法 第6部分:铱含量的测定.

GB/T 15072.6-2025 is the iridium part of the Chinese national series of chemical analysis methods for precious metal alloys.

Its introduction states that the aim of this part is to establish a potentiometric titration method for determining the iridium content of precious metal alloys, and that GB/T 15072 is planned as twenty parts covering gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium and the other alloying elements.

Its foreword records what changed from the previous edition: the titration equipment became an automatic potentiometric titrator in place of an ordinary polarograph, the test specimen is dissolved in a polytetrafluoroethylene digestion vessel instead of a sealed tube, the permissible difference was dropped, and reproducibility and repeatability were added.

It replaces GB/T 15072.6-2008, which was limited to iridium in platinum and palladium alloys, was issued on 29 August 2025 and applies from 1 March 2026.

Compared with GB/T 15072.6-2008, the main technical changes in "Iron Current Titration Method" are as follows, except for structural adjustments and editorial modifications.

a) The titration equipment was changed from "ordinary polarograph" to "automatic potentiometric titrator" (see 6.2, 5.2 in the 2008 edition);

b) The sample dissolution method was changed from sealed tube dissolution to polytetrafluoroethylene digestion vessel dissolution (see 8.4.1, 7.4.1 of the 2008 edition);

c) The sample handling method has been changed, replacing "sample" with "test specimen" (see Chapter 7, Chapter 6 of the 2008 edition);

d) The phrase "permissible difference" has been removed (see Chapter 9 of the 2008 edition);

e) Added "reproducibility" and "repeatability" (see 10.1 and 10.2).

Introduction

Precious metal alloys are alloys composed of one or more precious metals (such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, etc.) with other metallic or non-metallic elements.

Materials. These alloys not only retain the excellent properties of precious metals, such as corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and ductility, but also allow for the addition of other metals.

Precious metal alloys are used to modify or enhance certain physical, chemical, or mechanical properties of alloys. This allows precious metal alloys to improve material usability and reduce costs.

It is of great significance and is widely used in the automotive industry, electronic communications, new energy, petrochemical industry, weaponry industry, aerospace and other fields.

GB/T 15072 aims to establish a set of standard methods for chemical composition analysis to meet the needs of the production and trade of precious metal alloy products.

GB/T 15072 is proposed to consist of 20 parts.

Since.1994, two versions of the GB/T 15072 series standards have been released. GB/T 15072.6-2008 was released.

Having been implemented for over ten years, its scope of application does not fully cover all products. Therefore, it is indeed necessary to revise GB/T 15072.6-2008 to ensure... The standard adapts to industry changes and market demands.

This document further improves the applicability of the standard, fully covering the requirements of existing product standards and meeting market demands.

Improving the quality of precious metal alloy products is of great significance for promoting their production, trade, and expanding application demand.
