Scope
GB/T 14506.2-2010 is the English-translated version of 硅酸盐岩石化学分析方法 第2部分：化合水量测定.
GB/T 14506.2-2010 specifies the gravimetric method for determining the combined water content of silicate rocks, and applies equally to soils and stream sediments, for combined water contents greater than 0.5%.
The test portion, pre-dried at 105 °C, is ignited with a blast lamp in the end bulb of a hard-glass double-bulb tube; the water released condenses in the cooled middle bulb, the end bulb is melted off, and the tube is weighed before and after drying at 105 °C to 110 °C, the loss giving the combined water.
The part sets out the apparatus, sample preparation (particle size below 74 µm, dry-basis correction per GB/T 14506.1 for hygroscopic rocks), duplicate determinations with a reference material, the calculation formula and precision data from nine laboratories (repeatability limit r = 0.101 + 0.043m, reproducibility limit R = 0.172 + 0.135m).
It replaces GB/T 14506.2-1993, adding a safety warning and normative references. Issued on 10 November 2010, in force since 1 February 2011. Classification: ICS 73.080, CCS D53. The document runs to 8 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
