It applies to the collection, classification, storage, management and exchange of information on the higher plants of China. Herbaria, research institutes, forestry and agriculture authorities and the platforms that share biodiversity data use it.

It replaces GB/T 14467-1993, was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 May 2022.

1 Scope

This document specifies the classification and codes of higher plants in the territory of the People's Republic of China.

This document is applicable to the collection, classification, storage, management and exchange of higher plant information within the territory of the People's Republic of China.

2 Normative references

There are no normative references in this document.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Higherplants

Plants with embryonic stages during ontogeny.

Note: It usually includes four major categories of mosses, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms. The difference between them and lower plants is that in addition to embryos, there are generally stem and leaf differentiation. Algae in lower plants.

3.2 Spore plant cryptogams

Plants that reproduce by spores.

Note: Including algae, lichens, mosses, ferns, etc.

3.3 Seed plant spermatophytes

Plants propagated by seeds.

Note: Including gymnosperms and angiosperms.

3.4 Bryophytes

Small herb, with differentiation similar to stem and leaf, lack of vascular tissue in the body. Gametophyte generations predominate in life history. Sporophytes produce spores, but Can not survive independently, must be parasitic on the gametophyte to live.

3.5 Ferns pteridophytes

Most of them are herbs, few are woody, and the differentiation of roots, stems and leaves occurs, and vascular tissue is produced in the body. The sporophyte generation predominates in the life cycle, and many There are several sporangia on the margin or abaxial surface of the leaves.

3.6 Gymnosperms

tree or shrub. In the life cycle, the ovule is naked, and the outer surface is not coated, and the seed developed from this is naked, and there is no pericarp coating on the outer surface, which is not formed. fruit.

3.7 Angiosperms

Trees, shrubs or herbs. A true flower is produced in the life cycle, the ovule is not exposed, the outside is covered by the ovary wall, and the developed seed is covered by the pericarp be formed into fruit.

4 Classification principles and methods

According to the research system and customary usage of plant taxonomy, this document divides Chinese higher plants into five levels. phylum, family, genus, species and variety (subspecies).

5 Coding methods

This document adopts the hierarchical code, the code is divided into 5 levels, which respectively represent the category, family, genus, type, and variable type. The code uses 1 letter and 11 digits. composition. The category code is represented by 1 letter, the family code is represented by 3 digits, the category code is represented by 3 digits, and the type code is represented by 3 digits The variable type code is represented by a 2-digit number. The code structure is shown in Figure 1.

6 Code table

According to the above principles and methods of classification and coding, the code table is formulated as follows. A Bryophyta (see Table 1); B Ferns (see Table 2); C Gymnosperms (see Table 3); D Angiosperm phylum (see Table 4).

The sorting order of the families, genera, species and varieties in this document under the phylum Botany is in alphabetical order by Latin name.
