Scope
GB/T 14458-2013 is the English-translated version of 香花浸膏检验方法.
GB/T 14458-2013 is the Chinese national test method for flower concretes, the extracts obtained from fresh flowers with petroleum ether.
It covers the examination of colour, made by drawing about 30 mm of extract into a glass tube roughly 4 mm wide and 60 mm long and viewing it against a white background, and the assessment of aroma according to GB/T 14454.2.
It then gives the determination of melting point, with the beaker, the thermometer graduated from 30 °C to 80 °C, the capillary and the stirrer to be used and the way the sample is melted, drawn in, chilled and reheated.
Acid value, ester value and absolute content follow, using the solutions of GB/T 14454.14. It replaces GB/T 14458-1993, was issued on 6 September 2013 and has applied since 15 February 2014.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2009 given rules.
This standard replaces GB/T 14458-1993 "fragrant flower extract test methods." Compared with GB/T 14458-1993, the main changes as follows.
--- Increasing the "GB/T 14454.14 spices standard solution, test solution preparation and indicator solution," the reference (see Chapter 2, 6.1,7.1);
--- Increasing the content of the test report (see Chapter 9).
1 Scope
This standard specifies the test fragrant flower extract color, aroma, melting point, acid value, ester value and absolutes content approach.
This standard applies to leaching analysis extract of flowers made of flowers with the specifications of petroleum ether.

3 Color test

5 Determination of melting point
5.1 Instrument
5.1.1 Beaker. 250mL.

5.1.3 Capillary. about 100mm, an inner diameter of 0.9mm ~ 1.1mm, wall thickness of 0.10mm ~ 0.15mm neutral hard glass Tube, open at both ends.

5.2 Procedure
