Scope
GB/T 33918-2017 is the English-translated version of 香料 过氧化值的测定.
GB/T 33918-2017 gives the method for determining the peroxide value of fragrance and flavour substances, and applies to that determination. The peroxide value is defined as the amount of substance in the sample that oxidises potassium iodide under the specified operating conditions, expressed in millimoles of active oxygen per kilogram.
In the principle, the peroxides in the perfume react with potassium iodide to liberate free iodine, which is titrated with sodium thiosulfate solution, and the content is calculated from the titre.
The standard lists the reagents, all of analytical grade with distilled water or water of comparable purity boiled and cooled immediately before use: the glacial acetic acid and trichloromethane mixture in the ratio 3 to 2, the glacial acetic acid and cyclohexane mixture in the ratio 3 to 2, freshly prepared saturated potassium iodide solution, sodium thiosulfate standard solutions at 0.1 mol/L and 0.01 mol/L, and starch indicator solution at 10 g/L, with the preparation of each.
It cites GB/T 601. It was issued on 12 July 2017 and has applied since 1 February 2018.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Peroxide value
The amount of substance that oxidizes potassium iodide under the specified operating conditions of the sample, expressed in millimoles of active oxygen per kg.
4 Principle
Peroxide in spices, and potassium iodide role to generate free iodine, sodium thiosulfate solution titration, calculate the content.
5 Reagent
The reagents used are analytical reagents. Water is distilled water or water of comparable purity, boil and cool to room temperature immediately before use.
5.1 Glacial acetic acid - trichloromethane solution 3 volumes of glacial acetic acid are mixed with 2 volumes of trichloromethane.
5.2 Glacial acetic acid-cyclohexane solution. 3 volumes of glacial acetic acid are mixed with 2 volumes of cyclohexane.
5.3 saturated potassium iodide solution, freshly prepared
Preparation Methods Weigh 14g potassium iodide, add 10mL water to dissolve, if necessary, to make it slightly soluble in heat, cooled and stored in a brown bottle. (Indeed Paul solution in the presence of crystalline potassium iodide. )
5.4 Sodium thiosulfate standard solution, c (Na2S2O3) = 0.1mol/L
Preparation and calibration methods should be GB/T 601 implementation.
5.5 Sodium thiosulfate standard solution, c (Na2S2O3) = 0.01mol/L
Preparation Methods Pipette pipette 10.0mL0.1mol/L of sodium thiosulfate standard solution to 100mL volumetric flask, add water dilute Release to the mark.
5.6 Starch indicator solution (10g/L)
Weigh soluble starch 0.50g, add a little water, transferred into a paste, poured into 50mL boiling water and mix thoroughly, boil. Pro use now with.
