The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Hydrogenated rosin

A product is prepared by catalytic hydrogenation of rosin under specific temperature and pressure conditions, which saturates the double bonds of the resin acid with hydrogen, either partially or completely.

A type of amorphous transparent solid resin.

Note. The main chemical components are dihydroresin acid and tetrahydroresin acid, with molecular formulas C20H32O2 and C20H34O2.

3.2 Maleated rosin

An amorphous transparent solid resin is prepared by reacting abietic acid-type resin acid in rosin with maleic anhydride via a Diels-Alder reaction.

Note. The maleic anhydride adduct is maleic acridinium, with the molecular formula C24H32O5.The amount of maleic anhydride used in the preparation of grade 115 is [amount missing] of the rosin mass.

15%; When preparing grade 103, the amount of maleic anhydride used is 3% of the rosin mass.

3.3

Rosin is an amorphous, transparent solid resin obtained by catalytic disproportionation reaction at a certain temperature.

Note. The main chemical component is dehydroabsic acid, with the molecular formula C20H28O2.
