Scope
GB/T 12239-2008 is the English-translated version of 工业阀门 金属隔膜阀.
GB/T 12239-2008 specifies the structural types, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules, marking, protection and storage of industrial diaphragm valves made of metallic materials.
It applies to flanged valves of PN 6 to PN 25 (PN 16 maximum for grey cast iron) and DN 10 to DN 400, threaded valves of PN 6 to PN 16 and DN 8 to DN 80, and welding-end valves of PN 6 to PN 20 and DN 8 to DN 300, in weir, straight-through, angle and Y-pattern designs.
The requirements cover pressure-temperature ratings, face-to-face dimensions, connecting ends, minimum wall thicknesses of iron bodies and bonnets and minimum stem diameters, body lining materials and thicknesses (rubber, enamel, fluoroplastics), diaphragm materials and the static life test of the diaphragm, followed by pressure testing, inspection and marking.
It is a non-equivalent adaptation of BS EN 13397:2002 and replaces GB/T 12239-1989, with an extended scope, new requirements for body-bonnet bolting and life testing, type testing and an informative order contract data sheet in Annex A. Issued on 23 December 2008 by AQSIQ and SAC, in force since 1 July 2009.

Foreword
This standard corresponds to BS EN 13397:2002, Industrial valves - Diaphragm valves made of metallic materials. The degree of correspondence between this standard and BS EN 13397:2002 is non-equivalent.
This standard is a revision of GB/T 12239-1989, General purpose industrial valves - Diaphragm valves.
Compared with GB/T 12239-1989, the main changes in this standard are as follows:
- the title of the standard has been changed;
- the scope of application has been extended;
- requirements for the bolts connecting the body and the bonnet have been added;
- requirements relating to the life test have been added;
- the inspection requirements have been modified and type testing has been added;
- the requirements for marking have been modified;
- the requirements for supply have been modified;
- Annex A, Order contract data sheet, has been added.
Annex A of this standard is an informative annex.
