3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1

Using the helium gas used during fuel rod manufacturing as a leak indicator, the fuel rod is placed in a leak detection container and evacuated to a specified vacuum for helium mass spectrometry sealing testing.

Methods that can be detected.

3.2

The fuel rods are placed in a helium-pressurized container and filled with helium gas at a certain pressure. Helium gas then enters the container through leaks or gaps in the fuel rods before the fuel is released.

A method for testing the sealing performance of a material rod by placing it into a leak detection container, drawing it to a specified vacuum, and then performing helium mass spectrometry.

3.3

The fuel rods are placed in a leak detection container, evacuated to a specified vacuum, heated to a specified temperature inside the leak detection container, and maintained for a specified time before proceeding.

The process for testing the sealing performance of helium mass spectrometry.

3.4 Maximum leakage time

When a penetrating defect exists on the fuel rod, the leak occurs between the completion of the self-filling helium sealing weld or the completion of helium pressurization and when it can be detected by a helium mass spectrometer.

4 Principles

Based on the principles of mass spectrometry, the sealing performance of the fuel rods is determined by detecting helium leakage signals. This is based on the fuel rod design...
