Scope
GB/T 11541-2008 is the English-translated version of 照相原纸.
GB/T 11541-2008 specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage of photographic base paper, and applies to base paper converted into contact printing and enlarging photographic papers.
The paper is made in two grades, first grade for high-quality art photography and qualified grade for general use, with limits at 140 g/m2 and 200 g/m2 for grammage, dry and wet tensile strength, tearing resistance, Cobb water absorptiveness, brightness, dimensional change after wetting, Bekk smoothness, developer absorption, water permeability, iron spots, dirt and moisture.
The test methods refer to the national paper testing standards, while three normative annexes set out the methods for water permeability after developing and fixing, developer absorption by weighing, and iron spots revealed with nitric acid and potassium ferrocyanide; lot acceptance uses a GB/T 2828.1 double sampling plan at AQL 4.0 and 6.5.
It replaces GB/T 11541-1989, with a revised scope, normative references, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transport and storage clauses, and the addition of Annexes A, B and C. Issued on 19 August 2008, in force since 1 May 2009.

This standard is a revision of GB/T 11541-1989, Photographic base paper.
This standard replaces GB/T 11541-1989.
Compared with GB/T 11541-1989, the main changes in this standard are as follows:
- the scope has been modified;
- the normative references have been modified;
- the inspection rules have been modified (Clause 6 of this edition);
- marking, packaging, transport and storage have been modified (Clause 7 of this edition);
- Annex A, Annex B and Annex C have been added.
Annex A, Annex B and Annex C of this standard are normative annexes.
This standard was proposed by the China National Light Industry Council.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Paper Industry.
