Scope

GB/T 10266-2026 is the English-translated version of 压水堆用烧结二氧化铀芯块技术条件.

GB/T 10266-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the sintered uranium dioxide pellet loaded into the fuel rods of a pressurized water reactor.

It fixes what the pellet has to be: enrichment and its tolerance, density and porosity, dimensions and surface condition, the impurities allowed and the hydrogen and moisture content, together with the sampling and the tests that verify each.

It replaces GB/T 10266-2008, and it is one of the two nuclear fuel documents in this batch — the other is GB/T 10265-2026 on the powder the pellet is pressed from.

It was issued on 30 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 February 2027, replacing GB/T 10266-2008. The document is under the responsibility of the China Atomic Energy Authority.

It replaces GB/T 10266-2008, which remains in force until that date.

3 Classification and status

GB/T 10266-2026 is classified under ICS 27.120.30, in the field of energy and heat transfer engineering. ICS is the International Classification for Standards, the same scheme used by ISO and by the national bodies of most countries, which is what allows a Chinese standard to be placed beside its foreign counterparts on subject rather than on number.

Its Chinese Standard Classification code is CCS F 46. CCS is the domestic scheme, a letter for the sector and two digits for the subject within it, and it is the code by which the standard is filed and searched in China.

The GB/T prefix marks a recommended national standard. It is not, in itself, law: it becomes binding when a contract names it, when a regulation or a mandatory standard refers to it, or when a producer declares conformity with it. In practice that covers most of the cases in which it will be read — a purchase specification, an inspection agreement or a certification scheme.

The document is under the responsibility of the China Atomic Energy Authority, which is the body that maintains it and that will answer a formal question about its interpretation.
