Scope

GB/T 10108-2008 is the English-translated version of 出口桑蚕丝织物.

GB/T 10108-2008 sets the quality requirements for mulberry silk fabrics intended for export, together with the test methods, inspection rules, packaging and marking that go with them.

Its foreword records what the revision changed: the grades became AA, A and qualified in place of AA, A and B; the appearance-defect limit moved from a defect rate per metre to a score per hundred square metres; the sampling plan and the rules for deciding results were changed; and requirements were added for fibre-content deviation in stretch fabrics, yarn slippage resistance, formaldehyde content, pH, decomposable aromatic amine dyes and odour.

An informative Appendix A classifies appearance defects. Its summary states that fabrics of dupion silk are outside its scope. It replaces GB/T 10108-1988, was issued on 19 August 2008 and has applied since 1 June 2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 10108-1988 "export silk fabric." This standard compared with GB/T 10108-1988, the main changes are as follows.

--- The grading stipulation grade AA, A, B to AA, A, qualified products (1988 Version 3.2; 3.2 edition);

--- Increased export silk fabric tensile elastic fiber content bias, yarn slippage resistance, formaldehyde content, pH, biodegradable aromatic Amine dyes, odor demands (edition 3.1);

--- The scoring method per one hundred square meters (1988 version 3.4.1.1 appearance defect rates per meter limit changed from scoring method; Excerpts 3.5);

--- Changing the sampling plan and the results of determination (1988 Version 4.2; 5.2 edition);

--- Simplifies the packaging and labeling requirements (1988 edition Chapter 5; Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 of this edition);

--- Increasing the appearance of defects classification table (Excerpts Appendix A). Appendix A of this standard is an informative annex.
