Foreword

All the technical content in this Part of GB 5768 is compulsory. GB 5768 Road Traffic Signs and Markings is divided into eight parts:

---Part 1: General;

---Part 6: Highway Railway Grade Crossing;

---Part 7: Non-motor Vehicles and Pedestrians;

---Part 8: School Zone. This is the seventh part of GB 5768. Since the date of implementation of this Part, all the newly established (re-established) traffic signs and markings shall implement the new stipulations. This Part was proposed by Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, The Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China. This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China. The drafting organizations of this Part: Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport. 1 Scope

GB 5768.7-2018 is the Chinese national standard on road traffic signs and markings - part 7: non-motor vehicles and pedestrians, in the field of services and company organization. This Part of GB 5768 stipulates the general requirements and application of relevant road traffic signs and markings for non-motor vehicles and pedestrians. This Part is applicable to the setting of relevant traffic signs and markings for non- motor vehicles and pedestrians on various types of road, such as: highways; urban roads; places which allow the passage of social motor vehicles even though they are within the jurisdiction of certain organizations; places for public passage: plazas and public parking lots.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.

3.1 Non-motor Vehicle Lane Non-motor vehicle lane refers to vehicle lane that is exclusive for the passage of non- motor vehicles on the roads.

3.2 Non-motor Vehicle Path Non-motor vehicle path refers to path that is exclusive for the passage of non-motor vehicles.

3.3 Non-motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Path Non-motor vehicle and pedestrian path refers to path that is exclusive for the passage of non-motor vehicles and pedestrians. NOTE: non-motor vehicle and pedestrian path maybe divided into two types: one provides separate space for the passage of non-motor vehicles and pedestrians; the other provides shared space for the passage of non-motor vehicles and pedestrians.

3.4 Pedestrian Path Pedestrian path refers to path that is exclusive for the passage of pedestrians; the access of any vehicles is not allowed on pedestrian path.

4 General Stipulations

4.1 The characters, production and setting of relevant road traffic signs and markings for non-motor vehicles and pedestrians shall comply with the stipulations in GB 5768.1, GB 5768.2 and GB 5768.3.

4.2 Road traffic signs shall not intrude road building boundaries.

4.3 The setting of relevant road traffic signs and markings for non-motor vehicles and pedestrians shall coordinate with other traffic signs and markings on the roads.

4.4 Non-motor vehicle driving sign (Figure 1), non-motor vehicle lane sign (Figure 2) and non-motor vehicle and pedestrian passage sign (Figure 3) may be independently set up.When merely setting up signs cannot satisfy the places in demand, non-motor vehicle pavement sign (Figure 4) and pedestrian pavement sign (Figure 5) should be simultaneously set up.When pavement signs are repeatedly set up, the distance among each group of pavement signs should not be more than 200 m. Figure 1 -- Non-motor Vehicle Driving Sign The height relations and word spacing of letters, numbers and Chinese characters shall comply with the requirements in GB 5768.2.Under special circumstances, through certain argumentation, the height of Chinese characters may be decreased, but it shall not be lower than 10 cm.

4.8 In terms of triangular warning signs set up on non-motor vehicle path, non-motor vehicle and pedestrian path, the side length should take 50 cm; the maximum side length shall not be more than 70 cm.In terms of circular and octagonal prohibitory signs and indicative signs, the external diameter should take 45 cm; the maximum external diameter shall not be more than 60 cm.In terms of triangular prohibitory signs, the side length should take 50 cm; the maximum side length shall not be more than 70 cm.

4.9 The dimensions of pavement signs on non-motor vehicle paths may be scaled down, so as to fit the width of non-motor vehicle lane.

5.1 Road Section

5.1.1 Signs of non-motor vehicle lane shall be set up before the starting point of non- motor vehicle lane.Meanwhile, non-motor vehicle pavement signs should be set up. When a road section is relatively long, signs of non-motor vehicle lane may be repeatedly set up after passing an intersection.In an interval of 300 m ~ 500 m on a road section, signs of non-motor vehicle lane may also be repeatedly set up.

5.1.2 Between a motor vehicle lane and a non-motor vehicle lane, a motor and non- motor boundary line shall be set up.In parts where motor vehicles' crossing of non- motor vehicle lane exists, motor and non-motor vehicle boundary line is dotted.In sections which use a separation zone to separate motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles may not set up motor and non-motor vehicle boundary line.Please refer to Figure 10 for an example. 7 Street-crossing Facilities for Pedestrians and

Pedestrian Street

7.1 Street-crossing facilities shall set up corresponding road traffic signs and markings.

7.2 The length of the sign of prohibiting crossing opposite roadway boundary line and the sign of prohibiting crossing same-directional roadway boundary line on the upstream of crosswalk line shall be not less than 10 m.Please refer to Figure 27 for an example.

7.3 Within the range from 20 m on the upstream to 10 m on the downstream of crosswalk line without signal control, a No Parking sign should be set up.Please refer to Figure 27 for an example.In places with poor visibility range, this range should be expanded. 7.4 When measures like speed bump and lane width compression are adopted in accordance with demands, corresponding warning signs and markings shall be set up.
