Scope
GB 34467-2017 is the English-translated version of 饲料添加剂 柠檬酸钙.
GB 34467-2017 specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labelling, packaging, transport, storage and shelf life of the feed additive calcium citrate, and applies to the product made by reacting citric acid with calcium-containing compounds.
The product is a white crystalline powder, insoluble in water or ethanol, that must contain at least 97.0% calcium citrate and at least 73.6% citric acid on a dry basis, with not more than 5% retained on a 0.25 mm sieve, loss on drying of not more than 13%, total arsenic not more than 3 mg/kg, lead not more than 10 mg/kg and fluorine not more than 50 mg/kg.
Citrate and calcium are identified by chemical tests; calcium citrate is determined by EDTA titration at pH above 12 with calcium indicator, citric acid by potassium permanganate oxidation with iodometric back-titration, loss on drying at 150 °C following the 2015 Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and particle size, arsenic, lead and fluorine by the referenced national feed methods.
Chapters 1, 3 and 5 are mandatory and the rest recommended; the inspection rules cover batching, sampling, factory and type inspection and re-inspection, and the shelf life is 24 months from production.
