Scope
GB 2702-1990 is the English-translated version of 爆炸品保险箱.
GB 2702-1990 specifies the technical conditions, verification tests and inspection rules for safety boxes used to carry explosives, and is the technical basis for their design and verification; boxes made to it may be consigned as less-than-carload freight at railway stations.
It defines eight types, A-1 to A-6 and B-1 and B-2, with dimensions from 470 × 360 × 320 mm to 2 050 × 480 × 480 mm.
The box must keep its internal temperature at no more than 100 °C for 20 min in a fire (furnace rising to 780 °C at 20 min), resist a 3 t load for 24 h and survive a 1.5 m drop; it is built in three layers (1.5 mm steel plate, 30 mm aluminium silicate fibre felt and wooden inner boards at least 20 mm thick), painted grass green and marked with the explosives and handling labels of GB 190 and GB 191.
Verification covers the fire insulation test, the free drop test to GB 4857.5 and the compression test to GB 4857.3 or GB 4857.16, followed by type and factory inspection and judgement rules.
It replaces GB 2702-81. Issued on 25 December 1990 and in force since 1 October 1991. Classification: CCS A82. The document runs to 4 pages, delivered complete in English translation.
