Scope
GB 19644-2024 is the English-translated version of 食品安全国家标准 乳粉和调制乳粉.
GB 19644-2024 is the Chinese national food safety standard for milk powder and formulated milk powder.
It applies to full-fat, skimmed and partially skimmed milk powder, made from a single variety of raw milk, and to formulated milk powder, made from a single variety of raw milk and its processed products together with one or more other raw materials.
Clause 3 sets the technical requirements: raw materials, the sensory requirements of Table 1, the physical and chemical indicators of Table 2, the limits for contaminants and fungi toxins, the microbial limits, and the use of food additives and nutritional fortification substances under GB 2760.
Clause 4 fixes the labelling, including the rule that milk powder from dairy animals other than cows names the animal. It replaces GB 19644-2010, was issued on 8 February 2024 and has applied since 8 February 2025.

This Standard replaces GB 19644-2010 National food safety standard - Milk powder.
Compared with GB 19644-2010, the major changes of this Standard are as follows.

1 Scope
This Standard applies to milk powder (full-fat, skimmed, partially skimmed) and formulated milk powder.
