Scope
GB 14763-2005 is the English-translated version of 装用点燃式发动机重型汽车 燃油蒸发污染物排放限值及测量方法（收集法）.
GB 14763 covers the fuel that escapes without being burnt: the hydrocarbon vapour that a petrol-engined heavy vehicle loses from its tank and fuel system while parked and while running.
It sets the limits and the trap method used to measure them, the type approval procedure and its extension, the conformity of production, and in its annexes the test specification and the ageing test for the activated carbon canister that is supposed to capture the vapour — the component whose deterioration is the usual cause of failure in service.

This document was issued on 17 April 2005 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration of the PRC, and took effect on 1 July 2005.
It replaces GB 14761.3-1993, which is superseded.
