YY/T 0515-2009 is the Chinese recommended medical device standard on corrosion testing of dental amalgam. It describes two test methods with their procedures: a potentiostatic corrosion test in which the integrated current is measured, and a static immersion test in which the released ions and the amount of mercury vapour are measured.

Between them the two tests show how the amalgam corrodes and how far it tends to release mercury vapour while corroding. The standard does not lay down the parameters that have to be specified for either test.

It quotes YY 1026-2009, GB/T 9258.1-2000, GB 6682-1992, ISO 3585-1998 and ISO 10271-2001. Issued on 30 December 2009, it has applied since 1 June 2011.
